Kodeora ("we," "us," or "our") operates the KidsPlay - YouTube for Kids application (the "App") for macOS. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our App.
KidsPlay is designed for children ages 2-8 and is intended to be set up and supervised by a parent or legal guardian. We are committed to protecting the privacy of children and comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and other applicable privacy laws.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information We Do NOT Collect
KidsPlay is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not collect:
- Names, email addresses, or other personal identifying information
- Photos, videos, or audio recordings
- Location data or GPS coordinates
- Contacts, calendars, or other device data
- Browsing history outside the App
- User accounts or login credentials (no account system exists)
- Advertising identifiers or tracking data
1.2 Data Stored Locally on Your Device
The following data is stored locally on your Mac only and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party:
- Child profiles: First name (or nickname), age, and avatar selection created by the parent
- Parental settings: PIN code, screen time limits, content restrictions, and schedule preferences
- Watch history: Video titles, channels, dates, and durations viewed within the App
- App preferences: Sound effect selections, volume settings, and UI preferences
This data remains entirely on your device. You can delete it at any time by removing profiles within the App or by deleting the App from your Mac.
1.3 Purchase Information
If you purchase a subscription (KidsPlay Pro), the transaction is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. We receive only:
- A confirmation that a valid subscription exists (active/expired status)
- The subscription type (Annual or Lifetime)
We do not receive or store your name, payment card details, billing address, Apple ID, or any other financial information. All payment data is handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy.
2. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
KidsPlay is designed for use by children ages 2-8 under parental supervision. We take children's privacy seriously:
- No data collection from children. The App does not collect any personal information from children. All data is stored locally and controlled by the parent.
- No accounts or registration. Children do not create accounts, provide email addresses, or enter any personal information.
- No behavioral tracking. We do not track, profile, or serve targeted advertising to children.
- No social features. There are no comments, messaging, user-generated content, live chat, or any form of communication within the App.
- No external links. The kids' interface does not contain links to external websites or third-party apps.
- Parental control. All settings, profiles, and content controls are managed by the parent behind a secure 4-digit PIN.
If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child, please contact us immediately at support@kodeora.com and we will take steps to delete such information.
3. YouTube Kids Content
KidsPlay displays YouTube Kids video content through embedded web views. When your child watches videos:
- Video content is loaded directly from YouTube's servers via embedded player URLs
- YouTube may collect standard technical data (such as IP address and device type) as part of serving video content, governed by Google's Privacy Policy
- KidsPlay does not have access to or control over any data YouTube may collect during video playback
- We use content rule lists to block advertisements within the embedded player
- YouTube search within the App (when enabled by parents) uses YouTube's safe search mode
We curate and filter content categories to provide age-appropriate videos, but we do not control YouTube's content library. Parents can further restrict available categories through parental controls.
4. Third-Party Services
KidsPlay integrates with the following third-party services:
4.1 YouTube (Google)
Used to display video content. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy and YouTube's Terms of Service.
4.2 Apple App Store / StoreKit
Used to process in-app purchases and subscriptions. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
We do not use any analytics services, advertising networks, crash reporting tools, or other third-party SDKs that collect user data.
5. Data Storage and Security
- Local storage only. All App data is stored on your device using macOS standard storage mechanisms (UserDefaults, local files). No data is transmitted to remote servers operated by Kodeora.
- No cloud sync. Profile data, watch history, and settings are not synced to iCloud or any cloud service.
- PIN protection. Parental settings are protected behind a 4-digit PIN code stored locally on the device.
- Deletion. All locally stored data can be deleted by removing child profiles within the App or by uninstalling the App from your Mac.
6. Parental Controls
KidsPlay provides comprehensive parental controls that allow parents to:
- Set daily screen time limits and viewing schedules
- Enable or disable search functionality
- Control which content categories are accessible
- Review watch history per child profile
- Set volume limits
- Create and manage up to 5 individual child profiles
All parental controls are accessible only after entering a 4-digit PIN set by the parent during initial setup.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, rent, or share any user data with third parties. Since we do not collect personal data, there is no data to share. The only external data flow is:
- Video content requests sent to YouTube when a child plays a video
- Purchase validation requests sent to Apple's App Store
8. Your Rights
Since all data is stored locally on your device and we do not collect personal information on our servers, you have full control over your data at all times. You may:

- Delete child profiles and their associated watch history at any time
- Clear all App data by uninstalling KidsPlay from your Mac
